Bugs for the Spring Season

Pest Control Woodstock GAAlmost no bugs or insects truly take a holiday. Some may be more prevalent in certain seasons than others as they emerge from hibernation or begin their mating season. Spring, and specifically the month of April is a big month when people begin to notice some of the most common and dreaded bugs. That is why spring is one of our busiest seasons for new pest control customers.

Starting now you will be more likely to be seeing the following –

House Spider

These pests are harmless and useful but are dreaded and feared. The House Spider is actually nature’s complimentary pest control service for your home. Very few people however welcome this free service. The primary way to keep these pests out of your home is to take away their food source – other bugs!

Smokeybrown Cockroach

Though they are closely related to the American Cockroach, the Smokeybrown is smaller and it flies. It is very comfortable in warmer climates like Georgia and is happy living inside as well as outside. This pest can find its way in to your home through windows, doors, hitch hiking on firewood as well as gaining access through the eaves and soffit vents of your attic.

Carpenter Ant

This is Georgia’s largest ant and the most destructive when it comes to potential damage to your home. These pests will actually force out termites in your home and take over their destructive nature. While Carpenter Ants do not actually eat wood, they do gnaw at it to create the galleries in which they live and like termites are capable of causing structural damage to your home.

These are just a few of the bugs and pests that emerge in the spring you should also be on the lookout for fire ants, wolf spiders, and the good old American cockroach.

Spring is also the time that termites become more active and even begin to swarm. Call us for an inspection and to learn about our various termite treatment options.
